Classical Literature

The aim of this module is to introduce
candidates to Greek and Roman literature. Candidates are
expected to familiarize themselves with the works of Homer,
Plato, Sophocles, Virgil, and Plutarch, and to appreciate
the influence of these authors on literature in general.

Studying the Novel
6 Units
This module aims to assist you conceive a
form of writing fundamental to English Literature and
literary studies in general. The term ‘novel’ has been
freely applied by writers and critics to a various range of
texts. In this unit, the term will be limited to fictional
works, written in prose, of enough length to be regarded
‘novel.

Women Writers
6 Units
The change in the social status of women came
as a result of women authors writings, giving literature a
social dimension which it had never achieved before. This
module introduces candidates to the work of women authors
since late eighteenth century until now.
