English Language

6 Units

This module approaches the use of English Language in general, addressing a variety of topics that help you throughout your English Course. In this unit you are expected to act both, as learner and teacher. The following is a list of topics candidates are expected to examine: 

  1. The importance of poetry
  2. The importance of drama
  3. The importance of writing essays

Testing Procedure:

Candidates are requires to answer four essay-type questions.

 

Classical Literature

6 Units

The aim of this module is to introduce candidates to Greek and Roman literature. Candidates are expected to familiarize themselves with the works of Homer, Plato, Sophocles, Virgil, and Plutarch, and to appreciate the influence of these authors on literature in general.

Testing Procedure:

Candidates are requires to answer four essay-type questions.

 

Studying the Novel

6 Units

This module aims to assist you conceive a form of writing fundamental to English Literature and literary studies in general. The term ‘novel’ has been freely applied by writers and critics to a various range of texts. In this unit, the term will be limited to fictional works, written in prose, of enough length to be regarded ‘novel.

Testing Procedure:

Women Writers

6 Units

The change in the social status of women came as a result of women authors writings, giving literature a social dimension which it had never achieved before. This module introduces candidates to the work of women authors since late eighteenth century until now.
